- Dan Lonergan has been a Sports Broadcaster since 1989 and after honing his skills broadcasting the Western Border League in Country Radio on 3HA and the Hampden League with 3CS COLAC as well as presenting local sports shows, Dan achieved his dream of broadcasting AFL Footy with 6PR in Perth commentating the West Coast Eagles matches when they played in Melbourne.
- Eventually in 1997, he fulfilled his lifelong ambition of working for the ABC spending a year broadcasting with the iconic Tim Lane and Peter Booth in Melbourne being transferred to Perth where Glenn Mitchell encouraged Dan to take the next step in his broadcasting especially cricket and in how you prepare for a broadcast.
- During Dan's stint in Perth, he was selected to be part of the ABC Commentary team for the Sydney Olympics where he broadcast and covered weightlifting, Volleyball, Tennis and became in his own words "Australia"s first and foremost European handball commentator". In fact, he is Australia's only handball commentator as Australia has never qualified in that sport at the Games since!!!
- In 2001, he returned to Melbourne and became a regular and integral part of the AFL, Domestic and International cricket coverage along with the Australian Tennis Open for the next 14 years.
- He also covered the 2004 Olympics in Athens and although he has commentated 4 AFL Grand Finals, he describes his career highlight as being in London commentating for the ABC the 2012 Olympics of which he commentated at a high level more than a dozen sports including three sailing gold medals and a silver medal in the Slaom Canoeing for a then 18 year old Jessica Fox, who 8 years later is an Olympic Gold medalist.
- Since leaving the ABC in 2015, Dan has been gainfully employed as a Freelance Sports Broadcaster, Journalist, Commentator, Producer and MC with a number of organisations and radio stations such as Triple M, EON Sports Radio, SEN and 3BA Ballarat. for the past three years he has been the presenter, voice and face of sports social media company, Gameface, which covers local footy and Cricket throughout the Mornington Peninsula, West Gippsland, the South East and Outer east Suburbs of Melbourne.
- He continues to be well sought after in the Sports Media Industry and has gained a fine reputation over many years.
